Mission Possible
... but with God, all things are possible. [Matthew 19: 26]
"Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God." [Missionary William Carey, 30 May 1792. This was a statement William Carey made in his preaching 219 years ago. It was said that this statement had a profound effect on all missionary endeavors in his time.
It was in 1793 that Carey went to India; Dorothy [his wife] and children accompanied him. There were years of great discouragement [no Indian convert for seven years], debt, diseases, deterioration of his wife's mind, death, but by the grace of God - and by the power of the Word - Carey continued and conquered for Christ.
When he died at 73 [1843], he had seen the Scriptures translated and printed into forty languages, he had been a college professor, and founded a college at Serampore. He had seen India open its doors to missionaries, and he had seen converts for Christ.
On his deathbed, Carey called to a missionary friend, "Dr. Duff! You have been speaking about Dr. Carey; when I am gone, say nothing about Dr. Carey - speak about Dr. Carey's God."
When it comes to missions, what sort of effects should the life and commitment of William Carey, and many others, have on 21st century Christians today? Be reminded that the living God is a missionary God. All I can do to align myself with the prophet Habakkuk's prayer [3:2] "Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day..."
Some news with regard to our preparation for Albania:
- Praise God with us for His gracious provision in providing the needed funds to do our orientation course with WEC in Durban, February 2012. This is part of our preparation for Albania.
- Give thanks to the Lord for answering prayer. Seven churches in our sub-region are partnering with our Assembly in sending us as missionaries to Albania.
- Give praise to the Lord for our missionary support team that is in operation. This group fo thirteen has taken on the task to serve the Albanian nation through us on the field.
- Praise God for the many churches that opened its doors to us to share about missions and our call to Albania and how they [the church] can partner with us.
- The date for our departure, God willing, is end June 2012.
Some prayer items:
God, over these last couple of weeks. move tremendously on our behalf through prayer. Please continue to pray for us.
- Please pray that our monthly financial support for Albania will be realized.
- Pray that the Lord will give much wisdom for the various household decisions we need to make.
- Pray that our faith should stand firm in God and His word, and not in the wisdom of man.
- Please pray that God, the Holy Spirit, will continue His work of pruning in our lives, cause the worse person you can ever take to the mission field is your 'self'.
Yours for an ever redeem Albania,
Stewart and Carol Sampson.

Dear Partners,
Thank you for standing with us in your prayers and finances. We are realizing in a fresh way the importance of partnership in the work of the ministry. Without partnership, nothing can be accomplished. It is in our togetherness that we are to do much more.
This is a short note to update you about where we are at with regards to our preparation for Albania.
A. Missions Board and WEC International.
We've had a very positive meeting today [1 March]. The mind of Christ prevailed and the will of God triumphed. The partnership is now in place. The date when we will do the Orientation Course with WEC is set for February 2012. We humbly ask you to stand with us in prayer as we trust God for the funds to do the course. The funds should be paid in advance. The Scriptures encourage us "faithful is He who called you and who will also do it."
B. Deputation.
After Easter Carol and I will go on a deputation tour in the Western Cape visiting churches to share our heart and vision, with the hope for a partnership to develop; end result being the gospel is taken to the regions beyond. Please pray with us for God's favour and divine approval as we take on this mammoth task. Pray that the churches will make room for us in their hearts [2 Cor. 7: 2].
Because of the partnership the apostle Paul had with the Philippian church, the gospel was spread wider and taken to the regions beyond. Years later he could thank God for their partnership [Phil. 1: 5].
Any comments or questions you might have is most welcome.
God bless and stay the cause.
Stewart and Carol Sampson.
